Jose Cea Jose Cea was born in Gran Canaria, Spain. Since 1986 he has lived and worked in London, England. Cea studied art and interior design at the London Institute, Central St. Martins College and at the Chelsea College of Art and Design respectively. During his studies Cea explored the benefits of various mediums, including photography, installations and video amongst others. His work has been shown internationally, in London, New York and Barcelona. The crux of Cea’s artistic expression is his focussing on the broad reflection of the intimate relationship between the subject and its’ surroundings. Embracing spontaneity, space, time, presence and absence, stimulus, process and accidental encounters, his work engages the viewer, creating a personal language of the senses. By combining natural elements, the artistic object is reduced to its’ basic essence, invoking a simplicity and stimulation of the senses which invites further contemplation. According to Cea: “It is less about what is there, and more about what is not.”
